Welcome to The Tattoo Shop Grantham

I'm the proud owner of The Tattoo Shop Grantham, which I opened in 2011. Over the years, I've had the pleasure of building an incredible team of talented resident tattoo artists who work alongside me to create top-quality, bespoke tattoos for our clients.

As a tattoo artist, I specialise in portraits, realism, freehand designs, and custom pieces that are tailored to each individual. I'm truly an artist at heart, and when I'm not tattooing, you'll often find me in my "Man Cave" at home, painting and drawing commissions that allow me to explore my creativity outside of the studio. I am also passionate about creating and cultivating bonsai trees, which gives me a peaceful and rewarding way to connect with nature.

I'm married to Heather, who is also an integral part of the shop as my studio assistant. Together, we're proud parents to two little ones, three grown-up children, and six wonderful grandchildren.

When I'm not working, I enjoy playing golf and spending quality time with my family on seaside holidays.

Hi, I'm Louis Maier, and I've been tattooing since 2009. My journey into tattooing started when I met Paddy, a talented tattoo artist who did some work on myself and my wife. Our conversations revealed that I had an art degree, and the rest, as they say, is history.

As a father of three with a supportive wife (because, let's face it, every tattoo artist needs a strong partner!), I balance family life with my passion for tattooing. Outside of work, you can often find me spinning vinyl on my Technic 1210s—music is another form of creative expression for me. I'm also a local football coach for my son's team, which gives me a chance to stay involved in the community and pass on some teamwork skills.

I specialise in a wide range of styles, including watercolour tattoos, vibrant full-colour pieces, fine details, mandalas, neotraditional designs, and custom freehand art. My goal is to create meaningful and unique art on your skin—something that's truly yours.

I began my journey in the tattoo industry as an apprentice at Tattoo Shop in July 2022, and I'm proud to have qualified as a tattoo artist in early 2024. My work is deeply influenced by a love for traditional-style tattoos, vibrant full-colour Pokémon designs, beautiful florals, and all things spooky and creepy.

With over two years of experience, I thrive on creating custom tattoos that reflect each client's unique style and personality. Whether it's a bold traditional piece, a playful Pokémon design, or a detailed, eerie creation, I'm always open to bringing new and exciting ideas to life.

Studio Assistant

Hey! My name is Heather and I work as the Studio Assistant at The Tattoo Shop Grantham.

My job is basically everything except for the actual tattooing! I do Paddy's books and appointment bookings, I deal with all of the studio admin, I order the stock, I do the social media posts, I run errands around town and I do the daily deep clean at the studio.

I first met Paddy in 2011 when I was given a tattoo voucher as a leaving present when I left my job at Beaconsfield. I booked in with Paddy to have 'F Clefs' tattooed on my back, in the style of a Man Ray picture, who, coincidently, was a photographer Paddy had studied when he was doing his degree. A few years passed and we eventually got our shizzle together and  became a couple, got married in 2017 and had 2 beautiful children. The rest, as they say, is history!

I love being a part of The Tattoo Shop family and am so proud of the amazing work that both Paddy and the other Tattoo Artists produce. 

My ambition is to eventually qualify as an Occupational Therapist and return to my career in the NHS. But for now, this works for us and we're happy, so that's the main thing!
